Our aim
This website is run by Beacon Basingstoke Roofing. We aim for it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA, the standard widely used in the UK for accessible websites. That means it should work for people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, magnify the screen, or need clear colour contrast and plain language.
This statement describes what we have done and where we know the site falls short. It is our own assessment; the site has not been independently certified.
What we have done
- Pages use a logical heading structure, so screen reader users can move through them by section.
- Text and buttons have been checked for colour contrast against their backgrounds. Our yellow brand colour is used only as a background behind dark text, never as text on white.
- All features can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline showing where you are.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Links say where they go, rather than "click here".
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without content being cut off, and pages reflow on narrow screens.
- Animations are kept subtle and switch off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Phone numbers can be tapped to call on a mobile.
Known limitations
- The survey form. The quote form is embedded from a third-party form provider. We have chosen it with care, but we do not control its code, and parts of it may not fully meet the standard, for example in how it labels fields or announces errors to screen readers.
- Maps. The maps on the area pages use OpenStreetMap tiles and may be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. Every map is accompanied by the same information as text, such as the town's name and distance from Basingstoke.
- Older documents. Any guarantee or quote documents sent as attachments may not be fully accessible. We can provide them in another format on request.
If any part of the site gets in your way, you do not need to use it. You can phone us on 01256 213956 or email info@beaconbasingstokeroofing.co.uk and we will take your details, arrange a survey and answer your questions directly. We can also send quotes and reports in large print or another format if that helps.
Reporting a problem
If you find something on the site that is hard to use, please tell us by email or phone. Say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you use, if any. We will reply within 5 working days and tell you what we plan to do about it.
Enforcement
Service providers in Great Britain have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. The Equality and Human Rights Commission is responsible for enforcing the Act. If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service for advice.
Content we are still improving
Some photographs and diagrams are being added to the site in stages. Each one is given a text alternative or a written description in the surrounding text as it goes live, and tables are marked up with headers so screen readers can read them row by row.
How we keep this up to date
We check new pages and templates against the standard before they go live, and we will review this statement when the site changes significantly. This statement was prepared in October 2026.
This statement is a starting point written in plain English. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor, and the owner of Beacon Basingstoke Roofing should have it checked against the business's own circumstances before relying on it. Last updated October 2026.
