Beacon Basingstoke Roofing

Terms and conditions

The terms that apply when Beacon Basingstoke Roofing surveys your roof, quotes for work and carries it out, including your right to cancel and the limits of our liability.

About these terms

These terms apply to surveys, quotes and roofing work carried out by Beacon Basingstoke Roofing. We are a service-area business working at customers' properties, with no public premises. You can contact us by email at info@beaconbasingstokeroofing.co.uk or by phone on 01256 213956. If your written quote says something different from these terms, the quote takes priority for that job.

Surveys and quotes

Our survey is free and places you under no obligation. We inspect the roof as far as we can safely reach and see, photograph what we find, and send you a written quote. The quote describes the work, the materials and what is included. It is a fixed price for the work it describes.

A quote is valid for the period stated on your quote. After that, materials prices may have changed and we may need to re-quote.

A survey can only show what is visible and accessible. Some defects, such as rot in rafters under sound-looking tiles or a decayed deck beneath a flat-roof membrane, cannot be seen until the old covering is removed. If we find something like this, we will stop, show you photographs, and agree any change to the work and the price with you in writing before going on.

Your responsibilities

  • Give us safe access to the property and the roof on the agreed dates, and tell us about anything that affects safety, such as known asbestos, fragile roof surfaces or vulnerable people in the house.
  • Arrange any permission that is yours to obtain, such as planning permission, listed building consent or a landlord's or freeholder's agreement. We will tell you if we think the work needs one. Where the work is notifiable under the Building Regulations, we handle that side for you.
  • Let us know about shared walls, drives or access routes where a neighbour's agreement is needed for scaffolding.

Carrying out the work

We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, using the materials described in the quote or equivalent ones we have agreed with you. Roofing depends on the weather, and we may need to pause or rearrange work in rain, high wind or frost to protect your property and our team. We will keep you informed if dates move. We clear the site and remove our waste when the job is finished.

Payment

Payment terms are as stated on your quote, including any deposit, stage payments and when the final balance is due. Materials remain our property until they have been paid for in full. If an invoice goes unpaid, we may charge interest and recovery costs as the law allows, and the guarantee will not take effect until the work has been paid for.

Your right to cancel

If you are a consumer and you agree the contract with us away from business premises, for example at your home after the survey, or at a distance by email or phone, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel. The 14 days start the day after the contract is made. You do not have to give a reason. To cancel, tell us clearly by email or phone; you can use the model cancellation form we provide with the quote, but you do not have to.

We will not start work during the 14 days unless you expressly ask us to. If you do ask us to start within the cancellation period and then cancel, you will have to pay a proportionate amount for the work carried out up to the point you told us you were cancelling. If you ask us to visit specifically to carry out urgent repairs, the right to cancel does not apply to that urgent work, although it does apply to any other work we agree to do on the same visit.

If we cancel for reasons within our control after you have paid a deposit, we will refund it in full.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for defects in parts of the building we did not work on, or for damage caused by existing faults we pointed out and you chose not to have repaired. For business customers, our total liability for any job is limited to the price of that job, as far as the law allows, and we are not liable for loss of profit or business interruption.

Guarantee and complaints

Work we carry out comes with a 10-year workmanship guarantee, set out in full on our guarantee page. If you are unhappy with anything, our complaints procedure explains how we will deal with it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute.

This set of terms is a starting point written in plain English. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor, and the owner of Beacon Basingstoke Roofing should have it checked against the business's own circumstances before relying on it. Last updated October 2026.
