What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser so it can remember something about your visit. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do the same job in a different way. In this policy, "cookies" covers both. The rules on using them in the UK are set by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 alongside UK data protection law.
Cookies this site sets itself
This website does not set advertising cookies, and it does not use cookies to build a profile of you or follow you around other sites. Like any WordPress website, it can set strictly necessary cookies for people who log in to manage the site; ordinary visitors are not asked to log in and do not receive those. Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent under the rules.
If we ever add analytics or any other cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
Third-party resources on this site
Some parts of the site are loaded from other companies' servers. When your browser fetches them, those companies receive technical information such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you are on, and they may set or read their own cookies under their own policies. We do not control what they set, so we describe them here as honestly as we can rather than list cookie names we cannot verify.
- The survey form. The quote form is embedded from a third-party form provider. It may use cookies or local storage to make the form work, to protect it from spam, and to deliver your enquiry to us. What you type into the form is covered by our privacy policy.
- Map tiles. Maps on the area pages are drawn using tiles from OpenStreetMap. Loading a map sends a request to the tile servers, which can see your IP address and the area being viewed.
- Google Fonts. The typefaces on the site are served by Google Fonts. Your browser requests the font files from Google, which receives your IP address and browser details when it does so.
- WhatsApp. The WhatsApp button opens a link to WhatsApp, run by Meta. Nothing is loaded from Meta until you tap it; after that, WhatsApp's own terms apply.
How to control cookies
You can choose what your browser accepts. Every modern browser lets you:
- see which cookies are stored and delete some or all of them;
- block cookies from third-party sites while still allowing the site you are on;
- block all cookies, although some sites will not work properly if you do;
- browse in a private or incognito window, which clears cookies when you close it.
The settings are usually under Privacy or Security in your browser's menu, and the browser's own help pages explain the steps. If blocking third-party resources stops the survey form loading, you can still reach us by phone on 01256 213956 or by email at info@beaconbasingstokeroofing.co.uk.
Why we keep it this simple
A roofing website does not need to track its visitors to do its job. Its purpose is to explain roofing work clearly and let you ask for a survey, so we have kept what loads on each page to the minimum that does that.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site uses cookies or third-party resources changes, we will update this page and the date below.
This cookie policy is a starting point written in plain English. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor, and the owner of Beacon Basingstoke Roofing should have it checked against the business's own circumstances before relying on it. Last updated October 2026.
